A classmate at our 40th Reunion mentioned seeing an obituary, a while back, for Brian Stombaugh.  A phone call to Brian's sister-in-law confirmed his passing.  According to her, Brian died as a result of an epileptic siezure.  Thanks go out to Randy Waddell for the heads up.  from the Altoona Mirror obituary:

May 18, 1959 - Oct. 23, 2016

Brian J. Stombaugh, 57, Blue Knob, passed away Sunday at his residence.

He was born in Altoona, son of Gerald ‘Sonny’ and Dolores (McCabe) Stombaugh.

Surviving are his parents; a brother, Allan Stombaugh and wife, Donna, of Blue Knob; a sister, Cathy and husband, Richard Lauffer, of Blue Knob; a niece, Jessica; and four nephews: Eric, Chad, Curt and Kyle.

Brian was formerly employed at Martindale Lumber and was a member of Blue Knob Fire Police, as well as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed genealogy, astronomy, coin collecting and stamp collecting.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 26, 2016, at Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, Portage. Friends also will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at Martindale Alliance Church, Portage, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Pastor Tim Dietrich officiating. Committal will be at Mount Moriah Cemetery, Blue Knob.
