Paul Alexander Wolf

April 23, 1960 – Feb. 23, 2022

Paul Alexander Wolf, 61, passed away Wednesday surrounded by family in Frederick, Md. He battled cancer with strength and courage. Paul was born in Altoona, the son of Herbert T. Wolf II (1930-2002) and Nancy Hobson Wolf (1932-2015).

Growing up in Hollidaysburg, Paul loved creating and inventing in his basement workshop. At the age of nine, he built his first radio, which evolved into a passion for renewable electric energy. He was happiest in nature, whether it was driving an old Land Rover or a golf ball, hiking to a hot spring or sailing on the Pacific Ocean.

Paul studied electrical engineering at University of Washington, Seattle. While in the PNW, he worked as a ranger for the U.S. Forest Service in the Central Cascades. An avid sailor, he explored the Pacific before finally mooring in Santa Barbara, Calif., employed by a computer chip company, and Santa Barbara City College. Paul loved repairing and collecting vintage cars and vintage audio. He was an inventor, auctioneer, model sailboat racer, recycler, and restorer.

In 1999, Paul married Heidi Marx and they were together for 16 years. They have a son, Alexander Thomas Wolf of Winnipeg, Canada, who was the joy and light of Paul’s life.

In addition to Alexander, Paul is survived by many loving family members: Tee, Maya and Tai Kamoshita, Herb and Lynne (McMaster), David and the late Sheri Tyler (2019), Peter, Lisa (Dickman), Emily Lanzendorfer, and Sarah, Donald, Holly and Summer Newlands.

A Celebration of Life in Paul’s honor will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2022, at Plank, Stitt and Stevens Funeral Home, 421 N. Montgomery Street, Hollidaysburg.
